Senior Policy Analyst Vacancy – Mount Maunganui


New Zealand Kiwifruit Growers Incorporated (NZKGI) works to advocate, protect and enhance the commercial & political interests of New Zealand kiwifruit growers.  We represent kiwifruit growers, giving them their own voice in industry and government decision making.

This Senior Policy Analyst will have a strategic role to play in ensuring the interests of New Zealand’s kiwifruit growers are represented in policy development.  You will monitor policy developments, analyse impacts and develop submissions.  Through the development of strong relationships and a reputation for evidence based feedback you will ensure the needs of kiwifruit growers are considered in policy development particularly at local government.  Recognising the importance of sustainable access to water you will develop and implement a strategy for the development and implementation of water policy.  This is an outstanding opportunity to utilise your policy and relationship skills to represent growers the largest horticultural export industry in New Zealand.
Your success in this role will depend on:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, and at least 5 years’ experience in a relevant role
  • Demonstrated experience in policy development
  • Experience in the development of water policy and/or the horticultural industry is preferred
  • Strong analytical capabilities and excellent written communication skills
  • An ability to plan activities, projects and resources well in advance
  • Compelling persuasion and influencing skills allowing you to make a strong personal impression on others, navigate relational tensions and gain clear commitment
  • An ability to build and maintain robust, transparent relationships with key customers, strategic partners, service providers, governmental departments and all company stakeholders
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of confidence and credibility when addressing the public or when expressing opinions and key information
  • Can work both autonomously and within a team effectively
  • An advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Suite
